Theoretical Approach

My approach to therapy is primarily one of problem solving.  Frequently those problems have to do with navigating the difficulties that life throws at us and often they stem from difficulties within ourselves that can hamstring our effectiveness.

My work involves improving communication patterns.  I will work with couples or other relationships experiencing conflict and look for ways to give and gain respect. How we communicate also includes what we tell ourselves. How we view ourselves, others, and the world certainly makes a big difference in how we think, act and feel. I often employ a cognitive approach and behavioral techniques to make a direct difference in how we live our lives.

Often our struggles lead us to feel ineffective due to previous hurts, mistakes or ineffective patterns that we have learned from our history.  Change involves establishing different strategies for life and practicing alternative choices to handle problems better which can help us find more joy and purpose.
