Personal Statement

The philosopher Pascal wrote, “We know the truth not only by reason but by the heart.” In this world full of self-help books, social media, and memes, finding time for real connection is so important. Together we will use both heart and mind in an effort to help stimulate self-discovery, uncover faulty messages from the past, develop new positive coping, increase self-awareness, and uncover  strengths. Through these efforts it will be my joy to finally see you safely to a place of balance and authenticity.

Who I Serve

I enjoy working with adolescents ages 16 and older, as well as adults of all ages. I have experience in private practice as well as community mental health settings. I have a strong clinical background and I’m confident and comfortable addressing a variety of issues including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, perinatal/postpartum mental health and the transition to parenthood, sexual abuse issues, eating disorders, addictions, trauma recovery, couples and individuals going through divorce, unexpected life transitions, etc.

Emotional wellness is something we each strive for. I look forward to taking this wellness journey with each of my clients, knowing that the first steps can sometimes feel challenging. It’s my privilege to accompany you as you choose to move forward in your life.

Theoretical Approach

My therapeutic style and approach begins with unconditional positive regard for each of my clients. I strive to create a warm and safe environment from which my clients can take emotional risks. Feeling understood, supported, and cared for is critical to building a therapeutic relationship.

I use different modalities, often blending them, depending on what I perceive each client needs to be successful – I tend to use a psychodynamic approach incorporating family systems and cognitive behavioral therapy.

I’m also a firm believer that a little education goes a long way. I think there’s great relief that accompanies a new understanding… Education is the tool that can provide a handle on things that at one time may have felt overwhelming.
