Personal Statement
I have always been struck by the power of emotions and the way they influence our interactions with others, particularly those we care most about. For better or worse, our attachment bonds to family members, particularly a spouse or romantic partner, have a big impact on our emotions and the way we respond to one another. One of my primary roles is creating a safe environment where couples can recognize and accept the underlying attachment needs that drive their patterned responses. I then strive to help each partner express those needs in a way that avoids the pitfalls they have been experiencing. One of the greatest privileges I have as a therapist is witnessing the impact this has on a couple’s sense of closeness and safe attachment.
