Personal Statement

As a special needs therapist and advocate who has worked with children and adults with special needs for 15 years, I am passionate about empowering individuals using a strengths based approach. With my training in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy for children diagnosed with Autism, I enjoy teaching functional skills related to play, social communication, social thinking, executive functioning, emotional regulation and self advocacy. I am experienced with children that have difficulty with verbal communication, are nonverbal, or use an Augmentative Automatic Communication (AAC) device to communicate. My warm and positive approach provides an accepting environment for children to express themselves, develop self awareness, independent skills, replacement behaviors, and self regulation.

Who I Serve

If you are a parent of a child with special needs and dealing with the stress of challenging behaviors, I want to help you understand the “why” behind your child’s emotions and challenging behavior and the “how” to develop an action plan to reduce challenging behaviors. If you are a parent whose child has recently been diagnosed with a disability, I would love to come alongside you to support you. I serve children, adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, anxiety, and parents of children with special needs. For those who are seeking faith based counseling, I can provide therapeutic interventions using that perspective.
