I am a true believer that each one of us is important, valuable, and ENOUGH. Through our unique world views, we share our gifts, joys, insecurities, and heartaches with one another. We live in a beautifully dynamic society with challenges abound. People should never have to walk alone while they are navigating through tough emotions, behaviors, or experiences. We are all broken, but I believe that we all deserve to find healthy, lasting solace.
Who I Serve
For nearly ten years I have worked with a wide variety of individuals from different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. My specialty is working with individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders, process addictions, and other underlying mental illnesses such as anxiety disorders and mood disorders. I speak the language of shame, guilt, and stigma well because as a human, I understand it well through my own lens, and especially as it relates to mental illness. It is important for me to assist marginalized populations that are disproportionally underserved such as minorities, LGBTQ community members, veterans, homeless individuals, and current/former prisoners. I love helping to empower women as they face their own barriers and hurdles, and I am passionate about assisting teens navigating through enormous societal pressures while trying to discover who they truly are.

My job as a counselor is to meet my clients where they are. That begins with building a strong “therapeutic alliance” which includes having mutual respect for one another, understanding the roles of each person in the therapeutic relationship, and establishing mutually agreed upon goals to achieve. As we continue to learn more about the brain and its relationship between health and wellness, and our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors, I will constantly strive to incorporate updated and relevant evidence-based practices while approaching each case uniquely and thoughtfully.
