Stronger Together: Education and Support for Partners of Individuals with a Sexual Offense

This group is a safe space for the partners of individuals with a sexual offense to process feelings, concerns, and difficulties while learning empowerment skills and gaining peer support.

Date: Wednesdays, 8:30am-9:30am. Late May/early June. Start date TBD.

Location: Cherry Hill Counseling - Lake Zurich, 61 S Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 and also via ZOOM

Cost: $50/session. Sliding scale available if financial hardship is a barrier.

Goal 1. Providing a safe space to process concerns, feelings, and difficulties with other individuals who are partners of individuals with a sexual offense.

Objectives:

  • 1a. Establish group rules and norms.
  • 1b. Normalizing difficult conversations.
  • 1c. Welcoming the expression of emotion.

Goal 2. Engaging in psychoeducation and inviting discussions about difficulties and trials they face.

Objectives:

  • 2a. Providing curriculum surrounding the impact sexual offenses have on families.
  • 2b. Creating space to discuss other difficulties the group members face.
  • 2c. Experiencing collective universality as group members realize they are not alone.

Goal 3. Developing a strong set of skills to manage experiences of shame, ostracization, and practice self-care.

Objectives:

  • 3a. Identify the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • 3b. Practice empowerment exercises.
  • 3c. Provide peer support.
