The purpose of our group collaboration between CHC and Lake Zurich School District 95 is to provide a trusting and supportive group environment for teens who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and other issues. We aim to teach basic skills helping teens learn to manage or alleviate specific symptoms utilizing a variety of techniques such as education, cognitive exploration, behavioral rehearsal, and skills training. Some of the modalities we will use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Trauma Therapy, and Mindfulness Training.
The group is 8 weeks in length.
In our previous round of the groups in Spring 2022, 70% of students that participated reported increased use of coping skills to manage their mental health needs compared to 25% at the start of treatment. 80% completed the group cycle feeling more knowledgable about their mental health issues.
