Personal Statement:

I have been fascinated with the field of psychology and therapy for as long as I can remember. My love for understanding, helping, and guiding people towards healing has remained with me and grown as I have learned more about myself and my role as a therapist. I feel honored and privileged to be trusted with such a sacred part of people’s lives and to be invited to walk along on this journey towards healing and self-discovery. It is a role I value highly and deeply respect.

Who I serve:

As a Marriage and Family therapist I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families. My work specializes in the complex and sometimes cross-cultural relationships between individuals as they relate to their environment and each other. Whether one is exploring gender and sex identity, cultural and ethnic identity, or seeking to translate diverse experiences within a partnership, I will support and guide them through the process.

Prior to joining private practice, I worked in Chicago Public Schools as a school-based therapist. During my time there, I worked with children and adolescents and their families in both elementary and high-schools, providing counseling and support for students and their parents. While I have experience with a variety of treatment areas, my specialties are in mood disorders in adults and adolescents, relational distress and family conflict, parenting and co-parenting, life transitions, school-related issues, and grief and loss. I am also certified through PREPARE/ENRICH to provide premarital counseling.

Theoretical Approach

I apply a strength-based, holistic, and highly collaborative approach to therapy. I believe the client is ultimately the expert on the self and their family – my role is merely to help the client navigate the way to answers that are right for them. As a trained systems therapist, I do believe each person needs to be looked at within the context of their environment and the many systems around them – family, culture, and the larger society. How do these forces affect the person and what is their impact on the presenting problem? Each person’s story and experiences are different. Therefore, I adapt my theoretical approach based on what is best suited for the individual or family in front of me.
